Death
Lucille Efird Furr, 82, formerly of Albemarle, died Monday, May 8, 2000, in Surry Community Nursing Home in Mt. Airy. Her funeral will be at graveside Wednesday in Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 this evening at Davis and Son Funeral Home in Dobson and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. Born in Stanly County Aug. 12, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Jason Lee and Beulah Burris Efird and was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Albemarle. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Shepherd of Dobson; four grandchildren; Carla Shepherd, Angie Shepherd Hill, Stacie Shepherd and Bradley Shepherd; a sister, Gertrude Kluttz of Burlington; a brother, Chad Efird of Albemarle; and nieces and nephews. Her husband Thurman W. Furr, and a sister, Novella Dennis, preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to Alumni Scholarship Fund, Surry Community College, P.O.
