Death
Ralph Alexander Furr, 99, passed away, Sunday, December 10, 2023 at the NC State Veterans Home, Salisbury. Funeral service will be 3:00pm Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Friendship Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Roxanne Almond and Rev. Eric Shaver; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm prior to the service. Mr. Furr was born January 16, 1924 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Henry J. Furr and Annie Rowland Furr. He was lifelong member of Friendship Methodist Church. He was a WWII US Army veteran serving in France, Belgium. He was the owner-operator of the NAPA store in Mt. Pleasant from 1966-2000. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. He was preceded in death his first wife Katherine Layton Furr and second wife Frances Dabbs Furr and by brothers, Woodly, Reece, Floyd Ray Furr, and sisters, Emma Fink, Jewel Maxwell and Lena Mae Hinson. Ralph was a wonderful mentor, loving grandfather and an honorable man who will never be forgotten. He is survived by daughter, Patsy Furr Floyd (Jerry); son, Wayne Furr; brothers, Henry (Bub) Furr and Boyd Lee Furr; grandchildren, Tangi Teague, Tiffani Saffell, Heather Bell, Jeremy Furr; great grandchildren, Garrett, Faith, Camden, Colby, Blake, Chloe and Kensi. He is also survived by stepdaughter, Nancy Dabbs Mesie (Cecil); step grandchildren, Leslie Windell (Eric) and Jonathan Mesic. Memorials may be directed to the North Carolina State Veteran Home, 1601 Brenner Ave. Salisbury, NC 28144 or a Hospice of the donor’s choice.Military
