Death
Last rites were held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Grace Baptist church in Albemarle for George Cephus Furr, 52-year-old resident of 639 Edgemont street. Rev. Floyd Helms, pastor, had charge of the service, assisted by Rev. J. A. Seymour and Rev. Tracy Streater. Burial was in the Canton Baptist church cemetery. Mr. Furr, a well known textile worker for Wiscassett Mills, died Tuesday at 7 p.m. of a heart attack at the Stanly County hospital following three weeks of illness. He was a member of Grace Baptist church and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Furr of Stanly county, His wife, the former Bertha Beck, survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ervin Morgan of Concord, Mrs. Bill Little of Albemarle, Miss Betty Furr of the home; two sons, Fred of route 3, Albemarle and Wade of Albemarle; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Walter Kesler, Atha Holt, and Mrs. Jesse Bost, all of Albemarle.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, April 23, 1954
