Death
ALBEMARLE — Bertha Beck Furr, 78, of 639 Edgemont St., died today at 1:30 a.m. at Stanly Memorial Hospital following four years of declining health. The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. James Tucker, pastor, the Rev. Eddie McPeters and the Rev. Furman Wilhoit officiating. Burial will be at Canton Baptist Church cemetery. The family will be at Stanly Funeral Home Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. She was born March 7, 1906, in Stanly County, a daughter of the late Noah Lee and Lucy Waisner Beck. She was retired from Wiscasset Mill Co. and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Her husband, George C. Furr, died in 1954. Surviving are two sons, Fred Furr of Albemarle and Wade C. Furr of Lowell; three daughters, Gladys F. Morgan of Charlotte, Grace F. Little of Albemarle and Betty J. Furr of the home; two sisters, Ida Mae Robinson of Greensboro and Frances Jeffery of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.The Salisbury Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, April 26, 1984
