Notes
Death
Albemarle, Sept. 18. — News has just reached Albemarle late this afternoon from Winston-Salem announcing that Mr. William Furr who fell from a trestle at Norwood yesterday, and who was taken immediately to a hospital at Winston-Salem, had died from the injury received in the fall. Mr. Furr’s home is in Albemarle and he was working with a railway company and while performing services on a coal chute at Norwood late yesterday afternoon slipped and fell, crushing his skull and sustaining other injuries. He was immediately put on a special train and hurried to Winston-Salem to a hospital, but little hope was at any time entertained for his recovery. Mr. Furr was about 65 years old and leaves a wife and several children surviving him. He was one of the leading citizens of West Albemarle and was an ardent church workers, having been at the time of his death superintendent of West Albemarle M. P. church Sunday school. The remains will be brought to Albemarle where the funeral will take place possibly tomorrow. The Salisbury Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, September 19, 1918
