Death
NEW LONDON — Pratt Roland Furr, 63, of Route 3 died unexpectedly at 5:45 am on Wednesday in Stanly County Hospital. The funeral will be 2 p.m. on Friday in Bethany United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Hugh Sims. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at the Stanly Funeral Home in Albemarle tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Clark Ricky Almond, Larry Herlocker, Jeff Hearne, Doug Herne and Steve Clark, all nephews of Mr. Furr. Born Feb. 11, 1916, in Stanly County, Mr. Furr was a son of the late Paul H. and Ronie Barbee Furr. He was a foreman with Collins and Aikman of Albemarle, was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Army. Survivors include his wife Mary Harley Furr, three sons, Walter Bruce Furr of New London, Bennie J. Furr of Cary, and Ronald V. Furr of Stanley, one brother, Craig H. Furr of Albemarle, two sisters Mrs. Ruby Clark and Mrs. Betty Jo Almond, both of Albemarle, and nine grandchildren.Salisbury Evening Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, February 7, 1980
