KANNAPOLIS — James Jackson (Jack) Furr, 49, of 906 Skyland Street, died at 10:35 pm Sunday in Cabarrus Memorial, Hospital, Concord, following 10 years of declining health and three months of serious illness. He was born May 12, 1924, in Cabarrus County to the late E. A. and Mary Davis Furr. Mr. Furr graduated from Cannon High School in 1942, attended North Carolina State College in Raleigh and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion in Salisbury and had been employed by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in Salisbury as a tele-communicator since 1951. Survivors are one brother, Macon Furr of Newport News, Va ; one sister, Mrs Thelma Godfrey of 300 Central Avenue, Kannapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 pm Tuesday in First Baptist Church by Dr. Charles C .Coffey. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park. The body will remain at Lady's Funeral Home until placed in the church 30 minutesprior to final rites. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Thelma Godfrey and at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 9. Members of N.C. State Highway Patrol, State Highway Patrol Tele-Communicators and local law enforcement agencies will serve as honorary pallbearers.
