Death

CONCORD - Mr. Paul McDonald Furr, Jr., age 93, passed away Saturday March 22, 2014, at Tucker Hospice House. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26th, at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Joanna Buckley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Mr. Furr was born Dec. 27, 1920, in Cabarrus County. He was the son of the late Paul M. Furr, Sr. and Ethel Bost Furr. He was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Paul attended and graduated from Cabarrus County schools. He was a Navy veteran and he retired as a controller working with the companies AC Widenhouse, Inc. and Carolina/Barefoot Oil Company. Paul had such a love for flowers and his home gardens were immaculate. The time and attention he gave to his home and yard paid off as he was on the Tour of Homes. He was also a member of several garden clubs. Although he never married, he had many nieces and nephews who he loved as his own. They all survive him and will remember their uncle with fond memories. The family would like to thank the staff of Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House for their care and support to Paul and his family.
