Death
Ruby Idella Furr Barnhardt CONCORD -- Mrs. Barnhardt, 91, died on October 25, 2005 at Universal Health Care Center. She was born on July 5, 1914 in Cabarrus County, and married Otha D. 'Jack' Barnhardt on December 18, 1948. She worked and helped her father, P.M. Furr, Sr., in the family grocery store from the 1930's til the end of World War II. In 1946, she and brother Bill purchased and re-opened the vintage grocery on Kerr St. Later, she joined her husband in his family practice, and sold produce as local vendors. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Annabelle Carpenter, Pauline Helms, Mable Falk, Daisy Connor, and Marie Widenhouse; and three brothers, Homer Lee Furr, J. W. 'Bill' Furr, and Ray E. Furr. She is survived by one brother, Paul M. Furr, Jr. of Concord. Friends may express their condolences and love for Ruby at Wilkinson Funeral Home on Friday from 10-11 AM at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 11 AM at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ann St. United Methodist Church, 335 Ann St. NW, Concord, NC 28025.
