Death
Charles Franklin Furr, 67-year-old sawmill overseer, was found dead in bed at his home at the rear of 2636 Collier Dr., NW, yesterday morning. The body was found by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. J. N. Furr, also of Atlanta. Mr. Furr had been treated at Grady Hospital for high blood pressure, and had undergone a throat operation, according to police. Mr. Furr had been in the sawmill business for 25 to 30 years, and recently had been associated with his son, John Furr, also of Atlanta. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. John A. Burgess, Marietta; Mrs. R. L. Kiddle, Hapeville; Mrs. J. M. Morton and Mrs. J. W. Dowda, East Point; Mrs. C. C. Anderson, Atlanta; another son, Gary Furr, East Point; a sister, Mrs. Hayden Willoughby, Villa Rica; two brothers, Will Furr, Douglasville; Slaughter Furr, Villa Rica, and six grandchildren.The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta, Georgia, December 26, 1953
