Death
Mrs. Allie Furr Polk, 88, of 125 W. Park Ave. died yesterday at the Oaks Nursing Home in Huntersville. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Burnette, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Born Nov. 3, 1888, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Wilson Furr and Sarah Robbins Furr. Surviving are three sons, Lloyd W. Polk and James C. Polk, both of Charlotte, and Robert E. Polk Jr. of Neptune, N.J.; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Polk Schlecht and Mrs. Helen Maxwell of Charlotte; one brother, Alonzo Furr of Fort McCoy, Fla; one sister, Miss Sarah Mae Furr of Pineville; 18 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Friends are sending memorials to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Greenville, S.C. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Maxwell, 709 Yorkmont Rd.
