Death
Mr. Joe L. Furr 79, of Charlotte, died Monday, November 8, 1999 at Presbyterian Hospital. Graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 1999 in Sharon Memorial Park with the Reverend Gene Cole officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 8:30 at McEwen Charlotte Chapel. Born February 7, 1920 in Stanley County, Mr. Furr was a son of the late Lonnie and Bessie Furr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Mr. Furr was employed at Ray’s Gulf Service for 46 years and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his wife Margie Meeks Furr; two sisters, Clara Elizabeth Furr Harley and Sarah Furr Love both of Stanfield; two brothers Ephriam L. Furr of Myrtle Beach, SC and Charlie Davis Furr of Stanley County. He is also survived by two half sisters, Mabel Hartsell and Brenda Morgan both of Stanfield, and one half brother Toby Furr of Oakboro.
