Death
Roy Lee Furr, 90, of 115 Simpson Road, Locust, died at 8:42 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at the home of a daughter. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Love’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Leslie Wray and The Rev. Jim Allred will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from until 2 p.m., preceding the service. Born March 2, 1911, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late John and Mary Burris Furr. He was a packer and shipper for Cannon Mills for 37 years. He is survived by his wife, Dessie Love Furr of the home; a son, R.J. Furr of Locust; a daughter, Doris F. Barbee of Stanfield; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is in charge. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N.
