Ransom C. FURR
(13 Jan 1869 - 12 Oct 1929)
Moved to West Virginia where he was the proprietor of a hotel in Minga County, Magnolia township. He married twice; wives names unknown. In the hills of West Virginia, he found himself in the midst of the Hatfield and McCoy feud. He was shot in the hips. From that date, he was lame, having to wear a shoe with a built up sole. One leg was 3 or 4 inches shorter than the other. After he died, his brother Henry brought him home to rest in the family cemetery.

Death
Kinston Hotel Clerk is Found Dead in Bed. Headlines our favorite daily. And that is news; so few persons are found dead in bed in this day of automobile accidents and gun play. The clerk was R. C. Furr, about 60 years of age, a night clerk in the Caswell Hotel. The coroner attributed death to heart failure.The Independent, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, October 18, 1929
