Death
Funeral rites for John W. Furr, who died yesterday at the home of Clyde Sells on East Front St. were held this morning at 10:00 o’clock from the Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Furr was born 80 years ago in Iredell county. When he was 18 years old he moved to the southwest and west, returning to Iredell for occasional visits. In later years, he made his home in Concord until hospital treatment became necessary. He was treated by Davis hospital, and since leaving there has had a room at the home of Clyde Sells, where he suffered a stroke several weeks ago. Surviving his a half sister, Mrs. C. A. Lippard, a number of nieces and nephews in this county, and relatives in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Stanley counties. Rev. Tidwell and Major Birney officiated at the services. Interment was in the Mission Baptist church cemetery in Stanly county.Statesville Daily Record, Statesville, North Carolina, August 8, 1941
