Death
Mrs. Doris Furr Durden, 81, of Fieldtop Drive, Winston-Salem, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Forsyth County on Feb. 28, 1925, a daughter of the late Merritt and Lois Bowers Furr. Mrs. Durden was retired from BellSouth after 23 years of employment. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Mitchell Franks. Surviving are her husband, Fred Durden, of the home; a daughter, Marie Roberts, and husband, Bruce, of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Brinkley, of Kernersville. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Ottis Hurst officiating. The body will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home (Wallburg Chapel), and the family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 29. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Mr. Durden would like to thank everyone at Kate B.
