Death
Merritt Bracey Furr, 27, of 2000 Urban street, passed away yesterday afternoon at 1:23 o'clock at a local hospital after an illness of six years. He had been confined to his bed for two years. He was born in Stanly county, October 10, 1905, a son of Elim and Mollie Shepherd Furr. He came to this city from Montgomery county and had spent the remainder of his life here. He was connected with the Forsyth Furniture Lines Inc., until his health failed. Surviving are the widow, who was Miss Lois Bowers prior to marriage; one daughter, Doris Marie Furr; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elim Furr, of Troy; seven sisters, Mrs. Will Hicks of Troy; Mrs. B. F. Fulp, of this city; Mrs. J. B. Fulp, of Asheboro; Mrs., Noel Hathaway, of Liberty, and Misses Ruth, Grace and Pearlie Mae Furr, of Troy; two brothers, C. J. Furr, of Lumberton, and Bishop Furr, of Troy, and his grandmother, Mrs. Malinda Furr, of Stanly county.
