Death
Mrs. Lois Bowers Furr, 79, widow of Merritt Bracie Furr, formerly of Stadium Drive, died Saturday at Davidson Nursing Center in Thomasville after an illness of several years. Mrs. Furr was born Nov. 22, 1905 in High Point to Clark Webster and Nancy Jones Bowers. She was a member of Urban Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Furr was retired from Indera Mills following 52 years of service. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Doris F. Durden; one grandson, T. Mitchell Franks; one granddaughter, Mrs. Marie F. Roberts; two great-granddaughters, Lisa and Amy Roberts; one brother, Thurman F. Bowers and one sister, Mrs. Mabel B. Johnson. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Urban Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Sammy Shoaf. Interment will be in Waughtown Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Vogler’s Main Street Chapel.
