Death
Mr. Fred Durden, 87, a resident of 234 Fieldtop Drive, Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on May 15, 1920, to Edward and Myrtle V. Parks Durden. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was a retired carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Furr Durden, in January of 2007. Surviving are sisters Jane Schmidt of California and Joann Terrell of Louisiana; and niece Judith Schoap of Oregon. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Ottis Hurst officiating. Graveside military burial rites will be performed by the VFW Honor Guard. J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Wallburg is assisting the Durden family.Winston-Salem Journal, November 15, 2007
