Death
TALLULAH (Special) — Funeral services for James Elery Furr, 84, of Tallulah, were held at 11 a.m. today at Tallulah Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Paul Snelgrove officiating. Masonic services and burial were at Silver Cross Cemetery under direction of Crothers Funeral Home here. Mr. Furr, a native of Appala [sic Attala] County, Miss., died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Vicksburg, Miss. after a brief illness. He was a retired farmer and elder in the Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Royal Arch Chapter 67. Survivors include two sons, Lewis Furr of Torrance, Calif. and James Elery Furr Jr. of Delhi; one daughter, Mrs. Grace Mitchell of Tallulah; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Manfred Gustafson, Golie Coltharp, Robert E. Brown, Charles Turner, Everett Keeton and P. C. Crum.Published in The Monroe News-Star (LA), Thursday, January 1, 1970
