Notes
Death
Charlie, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Furr, was born Oct, 27, 1882, died October, 27, 1899, aged 16 years and 10 months. About five weeks ago he became sick of typhoid fever, swelling of the muscles about the right knee began and the disease attacked the bone virulently and internally as the physician believed. The fever and this malignant bone affection was too much for physical endurance so extinguished the life of the body. Charlie bore his suffering patiently and without a murmur, and his expressions of thanks for any kindness was remarkable. He was a steady, quiet good boy, obedient to his parents and kind to his sisters, and highly esteemed by all who knew him. About a week before he died he repeated the Lord’s Prayer and and (sic) sang:“One sweetly solemn thought
Comes to me o’er and o’er
I'm nearer home to-day, to day,
Than ever I have been before.
Nearer the bound of life,
Where burdens are laid down;
Nearer to leave the cross to-day,
And nearer to the crown.”’
At six o’clock Friday morning Charlies’ body succumbed to the disease and his gentle, sweet spirit flew upward to God who gave it. May God comfort and sustain the bereaved family.
J. F. MCDONALD.
