Death
TALLULAH - Services for James Elery Furr Jr., 80, of Delhi, Louisiana, were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 1999, in the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana with the Rev. Paul Lipe officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Furr died Friday, February 2, 1999 at Parkview Medical Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was a retired farmer and an active Elder and member of the Delhi Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Louisiana Tech and was a World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Elery Furr, his sister, Grace Furr Mitchell, and three baby sisters. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Williams Furr of Delhi, LA; his daughter, Mary Virginia Furr of Delhi, LA; his brother, Lewis B. Furr of Hot Springs, AR; his brother-in-law, Dr. John C. Williams of Vicksburg, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Nap Brook, Freddy Truelove, Michael Lancaster, Charles Kendrick, Frank Thomas and Walter Scott. Honorary pallbearers were Edgar H. Lancaster and the deacons and elders at Delhi Presbyterian Church.
