Death

Deanna Lee Furr was born in Bakersfield, California on September 29, 1938, to George Elmer Furr and Nina Johnston Furr. Deanna was the youngest of George and Nina’s five children. Over 57 years ago, Deanna married Dale Pittman. She came with a ready-made family that Dale embraced as his own. They added another son to the mix and raised all five children together. Deanna is survived by her children: Carrie Padgett (David), Lisa Jessing (Steve), Mike Pittman (Kathy Holbrook), and Robert Pittman (Stacey). Her son Jeffrey Pratt Pittman (Jill Welsh) predeceased Deanna. Deanna leaves behind her grandchildren: Amber Simson (Martin), Taryn Padgett (Landon), Daniel Jessing, Nick Jessing (Jesalyn), Seth Jessing (Rebecca), Jeremy Pratt Pittman, Justin Pratt Pittman, Cheyenne Pittman Robinson (Eric), Caleb Pittman, and Megan Pittman. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as a teacup Yorkie, Nellie. Deanna was predeceased by her husband, Leo “Dale” Pittman, her parents, George and Nina Furr, and her siblings. Marlon Furr, Edith Furr Ragsdale, Cecil Furr, and George Furr. Deanna worked in the grocery industry when her children were young, then in banking for many years, primarily with Wells Fargo in Bay Area, San Joaquin, and Madera branches. Deanna enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Her patterned afghans are prized by family members. She hosted large family gatherings for holidays and an annual Super Bowl viewing party, until her health forced her to pass hosting on to Carrie and David. She loved the mountains while Dale loved the beach. They would take day drives to both destinations. Grandchildren’s memories include Megan and Grandma in the kitchen of the Madera house. She also attended many birthday parties and graduations and enjoyed cheering accomplishments. She will be deeply missed.
