Furr, age 26, and Carrie Ila Byrd, age 21, was born in Stanly County, North Carolina, on the 22nd day of November, 1915, and that the record of this birth filed Jan. 5. 1916 is found in Book of Births No. 3, Page No. 99, in the Register of Deeds Office for Stanly County, North Carolina.

ALBEMARLE — Marvin D. Furr, 68, of Route 1, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday at his home after being in declining health for a year. The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Richard Poindexter and the Rev. Jerry McKinney. Burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle tonight from 7 to 9. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Born Nov. 22, 1915, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Prince A. and Carrie Byrd Furr. Formerly employed by Wiscassett Mills and Lillian Knitting Mill, he was co-founder, owner and operator of Albemarle Music Mart and operated the Min-I-Pond Co. from 1959-71. A member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church, he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Edith Tucker Furr; a son, Johnny J. Furr of Albemarle; three brothers, Belvin and Thad Furr, both of Albemarle, and Rayvon Furr of New London; two sisters, Gladys Gobble of Route 1 and Irene Brantly of San Bernardino, Calif.; and one grandchild.The Salisbury Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, September 25, 1984
