The community was grieved by the passing of Mrs. Ellen Ridgway, who died Oct, 31 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Virgie Chandler with whom she had made her home the past several years. Mrs. Ridgway was 62 years old at the time of her death. She was born in Polk county, Ark. Was married to the late O. L. Ridgway in 1895 at what was known as South Canadian in Indian Territory. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Effie Crews, Mrs. Chandler, Mrs. Fern Taylor and Henry Ridgway. There are 10 grand children, also a sister Mrs. Ida Lovett of Hickory and a brother, Marshall Furr of Elmore City. Mrs. Ridgway had been a Christian since she was young, was a member of the Free Will Baptist church at Cedar Grove. She was a true and devoted Mother. Loved by her many friends, both the young people and old, could do but her life work. All was done that loving hands could do but her life’s work was done and the Master called her away. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. A. Sammons and Rev, J. N. Caton. The body was laid to rest in the Cedar Grove cemetery beside her husband.
