Notes
Death
Betty Jean Furr, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on September 6, 2026, at the age of 91. She was a woman of strong faith, a gentle spirit, and an unwavering love for her family. Betty was born on June 23, 1935, to the late Millard H. Furr and Tina Lambert Furr. Raised on a farm, she learned early in life the meaning of hard work, perseverance, and caring for others. She carried those qualities throughout her life and was a strong lady who lovingly kept up with her four sons and was always there for her family. Betty was the devoted wife of the late Carl Ray Furr. She is survived by her four sons, Dolan Furr (Sherry), Carlton Furr (Pam), Myron Furr (Tammy), and Rob Furr (Debra). She is also survived by her brother, Coy Furr (Vandora); sisters, Lillian Dellinger and Brenda Walker (Tommy); seven grandchildren, Rachel, Ashley, Carla, Dustin, Cierra, Joshua, and Halie; and ten great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy and pride. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon Furr, Roy Furr, and Dave Furr; sisters, Ruby Furr, Annie Belle Almond, Ola Mae Harkey, Christine Drye, and Irene Caldwell; and granddaughter, Alicia Dawn Furr. Betty was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, a place she loved dearly. Her church and her faith were an important part of her life, and she cherished the fellowship and relationships she found there. A gifted seamstress, Betty created countless beautiful wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, cheerleading uniforms, and prom dresses over the years. Through her talent, she helped make many special occasions even more memorable. She was also an avid gardener who loved flowers and took great pleasure in sharing the beauty and bounty of her garden with others. Above all, Betty loved her home and her family. She was known for being a sweet and caring person who gave generously of herself. Her strength, kindness, faith, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Pacolet First Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow with Pastor Keith Davis officiating. Burial will be in Pacolet First Baptist Church Cemetery. Betty’s life was one of love, faith, hard work, and service to others. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to bloom in the lives of her family, much like the flowers she so lovingly tended. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home: 686 Jeff Davis Dr, Spartanburg, SC 29303.Endnotes
