Death

Ruby Furr, 90 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at CHS Stanly in Albemarle. Mrs. Furr was born June 29, 1926 in Stanly County to the late Millard Hubert Furr and the late Tina Louise Furr. She was also preceded in death by her husband in 1982, Paul Junior Furr, whom she married in August 1945; brothers, Robert Vernon Furr, Roy Davis Furr, Dave Lincoln Furr; and sisters, Annie Belle Almond and Ola Mae Harkey. Ruby was a homemaker and attended Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was a hard worker and her interests included gardening and cooking. Ruby loved to sew and make quilts for her family. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 22182 Canton Road, Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary officiated by Elder Ralph Dale. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Survivors include son, Bobby Dean Furr (Barbara); daughter, Julia Ann Shankle (James) both of Albemarle; five granddaughters, Tonda, Kim, Tammy, Deanna and Melinda; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Coy Ray Furr of Albemarle; and sisters; Irene Caldwell of Albemarle, Betty Jean Furr of Pacolet, S.C., Lillian Dellinger of Fallston, Christine Drye of Stanfield, and Brenda Walker of Mt.
