Notes
Death
Mattie Louna Hollis, born on November 12, 1880, married Daniel Raiford Furr, born August 23, 1873; they were married on August 30, 1895. They lived their entire married life in the Locust Bayou community where "Uncle Dan" kept a general store for many years. They brought up a family of twelve children here."Aunt Mattie", as she was known to most members of the community, was struck by a car one night as she was walking to her home, after church services, with her sister, Lou. She was killed and "Aunt Lou" suffered painful injuries. This happened on July 30, 1932. Daniel R. Furr continued to make a home for his younger children in Locust Bayou. After the children were grown, he lived out his last days with his daughter, Leta Furr Coston and his son, Lamar Furr, living with him. He died July 11, 1962.Endnotes
