Death
CALEDONIA – Betty Jean Clardy Delaughter, 69, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at her home in Caledonia. She was a native of Brookhaven and the daughter of the late Ed Louis Furr and Lavada Rozetta Palmer Furr. She married Thomas Ray Delaughter on Feb. 8, 1977. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with Pastor Phil Jones officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston. Survivors include her husband, Tommy Delaughter of Columbus; two daughters, Sandra Jean Boyette of Columbus and Martha Lee Eddy of West Point; four sons, Donald Wayne Clardy and Lonnie Butch Clardy, both of Caledonia, Ronald Bruce “Ron” Clardy of West Point and T.J. Clardy Jr. of Yazoo City; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Doyle of Brookhaven; two brothers, Tim Monroe Furr and Eddie Clinton Furr, both of Brookhaven. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Leanna Elizabeth Posey and Nina Mae Willoughby, and a brother, Eddie Saxon Furr. Pallbearers will be Brandon Farley, Christopher Clardy, Royce Bigham, Billy Wayne Mitchell, Andrew Lee and Lynn Bigham. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.Endnotes
