Thomas Ray DeLaughter, age 80, passed away Jan. 14, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus. Mr. Thomas was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Lincoln County, the son of the late Milton Ray and Clara Thornhill DeLaughter. He was a Baptist. He married Betty Jean Furr DeLaughter on Feb. 8, 1977, in Brookhaven and she passed away March 4, 2003. Funeral services are Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include two daughters: Sandra Jean Boyette (Randy) of Columbus, and Martha Eddy Clardy of West Point; four sons: Donald Wayne Clardy (Debra) of Columbus, Ronald “Ron” Bruce Clardy of West Point, T. J. Clardy, Jr. (Jackie) of Pearl, and Lonnie “Butch” Clardy (Theresa) of Caledonia; twelve grandchildren and 15 great - grandchildren; two sisters: Gladys Marie Beckwith and Carolyn Sue Brantley (Mike) both of Sheridan, Ark. Pallbearers are Daniel Clardy, Christopher Clardy, Robbie Clardy, Todd Clardy, Billy Wayne Mitchell, Chris Spencer, and Tony Collier. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. John Cox, staff of North Mississippi Medical Center - West Point, friends at the Lindy House, nurses and staff of Dugan Memorial Home, and the nurses and staff Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Visitation is today, Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, 5 - 8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.Endnotes
