Death
In Brookhaven, a man charged this week with the murder of his girlfriend’s father faces a preliminary hearing on the charge today, according to Lincoln County Sheriff Houston Jordan. The sheriff said Lyle Richardson, 29, of Laurel had been charged with the murder of Eddie S. Furr, 50, of the Enterprise Community, who was shot last Friday night apparently following an argument with Richardson. Jordan said Richardson and Furr’s daughter Sherrie, 28, who reportedly is Richardson’s girlfriend, who live in Laurel, had tried to visit Furr at Furr’s home when the shooting occurred. “It seems Furr pulled a gun and ordered them (Richardson and Sherri Furr) out of his house,”’ the sheriff said. ‘‘He shot his daughter in the leg and Richardson in the foot.”Enterprise-Journal, McComb, Mississippi, November 12, 1976
