Mrs. Carsley was born August 4, 1921, in Picayune, MS, the daughter of Jessie Ryals and Ruby Thornhill Furr. She graduated from Picayune High School in 1939. Christine was active in many local civic organizations; she served as president of the Maids and Matrons and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was on the Altar Guild. She loved playing bridge and entertaining friends and family. There was rarely a day that someone didn't drop by to have coffee, and her home was always filled with laughter and conversation. Mrs. Carsley was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Bryce Furr; and two sisters, Jesse Furr Scoggin and Thomasine Furr Blackwell. Survivors include daughters, Margaret Metcalfe Hassin (Danny) of Flowood, and Rooney Metcalfe Davis (Warren) of Terry; sons, Thomas Oren Metcalfe III (Barbara) of Gluckstadt and Dr. R.T.
