Remembrances of Vinna (Bowers) Helstern, tape-recorded 1989 by Bob Gross#2B [Carol’s] 16th birthday celebration “[One of Carol’s memories would be of] Liberace was in Dayton at Memorial Hall. Her father took her on a date; he took her out to dinner and to Memorial Hall to see Liberace on her 16th birthday. Couldn’t afford it - but we wouldn’t be any better off now if he hadn’t done it!...
Maybe [our life] wasn’t too practical, but it was rich and I’m glad that someone will retain the knowledge [of it].”
