Arthur Eugene "Gene" Fetterling Jr.

Gene Fettering graduated from University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and became a Business Information Systems Manager.

He started his carer working at Honeywell instruments division. His career stalled, he went back to school to finish is BA at UCLA in business. He landed a job with Mc Donald Douglas aircraft and space division. In the 60's he was fortunate enough to be involved with the Saturn space program to send a man to the moon. He went back and forth to St Luis assisting with the data information systems and the exploding computer needs. He was involved with figuring how much data could fit in the tiny computers needed to communicate from the command module back to earth. 8 bits of data is not a lot to have a system boot and run systems... The decision for 8 bits later lead to what is known as the Y2K bug where the year 2000 would have been confused with the year 1900.

Gene continued his career working for Boeing (Who purchased Mc Donald Douglas) and later worked for TRW where he retired. Once retired he spent much of his time in palm desert golfing.

Gene succumbed with a bout of cancer. He was sounded by his entire family in Costa Mesa the day of his passing. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered by his son off 6th street in Newport Beach, where he had proposed to his first wife some 60 years earlier.
