December 17, 1793. George Byrd appointed surveyor of the road from the Wythe County line to the mouth of Elk Creek, with the hands of Minitree Jones and William Drope.
April 23, 1794. George Byrd discharged as overseer of road; Jesse Vaughan to take his place. [the Vaughans are known neighbors of the Byrd and Burch families - other road orders mention William Byrd and Jesse Vaughan.

1794 Grayson Co Personal Property Tax List included George Byrd, as well as Samuel & Henry Byrd, Jacob Waggoner, William Burch, and Edward Smith.
