Individual Details
Adam Harmon
(Ca 1724 - Ca 1818)
12 Jul 1764. Adam, Daniel & Henry Harman were all on a jury in Rowan Co, NC.
Adam was the heir of his uncle Valentine, killed by Indians in 1756. There were various stories about how he came to inherit in depositions of 1805. Under the laws of primogeniture, Valentine's heir at law would have been his eldest brother; then the eldest brother's heir would be his eldest son. That is the most likely way that Adam would have had his uncle's property - although according to testimony Valentine, never liked his brother Jacob's son, Jacob's Jr. Since Valentine was killed unexpectedly, I doubt that he had any say in the matter, unless he had made a gift of the land prior to his death, or some discussion had been held in the family.

"in 1791 Adam Harman gave to his son Adam, Jr., one hundred and fifty acres of land lying on Abbot’s creek , and to his son, Valentine, one hundred and forty-seven acres on both sides of Long Branch of Brushy Fork of Abbot’s creek, in Rowan county, N. C".
The part of Rowan where Adam and later his son Valentine lived, became Davidson Co in 1822. Adam bought 360 acres from Jacob Waggoner on Abbotts Creek, Rowan Co and Daniel Waggoner was one of the witnesses.
