Census (family)
The census listing for this family includes Charles, age 32, Margaret, age 24, their son Edmund Anthony (here listed as "Amos"), age 7, and Margaret's seventeen-year-old sister, Mary Bush. Also in the same house was the family of Charles' brother, Peter LaComb. Both Charles and Peter were working in a saw mill.Census (family)
Enumerated with this family were Charles La Comb, age 35, a saw mill hand; his wife, Margaret, age 29; and Amos, age 12. They lived in a frame house, valued at $900. Charles was a naturalized citizen, owned land, and neither he nor Margaret could read or write.https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11668-101392-76?cc=1918735&wc=M9SL-4WY:n1686421792
Census (family)
Enumerated with this family were Charles Lacomb, age 42, his wife, Maggie, age 35, and son, Edwin, age 17.Census (family)
Odd that Margaret was listed on this census, since she died the month before. Apparently the stated enumeration date was before her death. Charles' occupation: farmer.Census (family)
This census record is a bit confusing, because it refers to Charles' wife as Margaret, not Elizabeth. Margaret was the first wife, who died in 1884. The rest of the information, including the names and ages of the children, make it clear however that the family described is that of Charles and Elizabeth (Daly) Lacomb. Enumerated with this family were Charles Lacomb, a blacksmith, age 53, born in Canada; his wife, Margaret (sic), age 32, born in Ireland; and children, all born in Michigan: Amy, age 7; Josephine, age 6; William, age 4; and Joseph, age 1. Charles and his wife both spoke English, but ould not read or write. Charles had lived in the United States for thirty years, and in Michigan for fifteen years. "Margaret" had lived in the U.S. and in Michigan for twelve years. She had had four children, all of whom were still living.Census (family)
Enumerated with this family were:-- Charley Lacomb, age 61, a farmer, born March 1839
-- his wife, Lizzie, age 37, born November 1862
and children:
-- Anna, age 13, born August 1886
-- Josa, age 11, born July 1888
-- Willie, age 9, born March 1891
-- Joe, age 6, born June 1894
Charley and Lizzie had been married for 15 years. She had had five children, four of whom were still living.
