Notes
Birth
Théotis, born November 17, 1805, of Catherine Govreau and of François Baudoin, was baptized "sous condition" by us, the undersigned parish priest of S te Anne du Detroit, August 12, 1821, the mother being present. The godfather was pierre Crepeau; and the godmother Ursule leblanc, wife of Alexandre Fraser, who declared that she could not sign her name when thereunto requested. NOTE: THIS TRANSCRIPTION CONTAINS AN ERROR. BIRTH YEAR SHOULD BE 1820. SEE IMAGE OF ORIGINAL, ATTACHED IN MEDIA.Note that she was baptized on the same day as her brother, Pierre. They obviously lived at the time of birth in an area isolated from the Catholic Church. They apparently were given lay baptisms (ondoyé) at the time of their births, because the baptismal records for both indicate that the sacrament was being administered "sous condition."
