Marriage
This is a transcription of an earlier record, and the spelling of names was garbled in the process. Most notably, the groom's name is listed as "Louis Gens" -- this is almost certainly a faulty transcription -- I believe it was originally Gagnon. His birthplace, Point Levi (Pointe-Lévis) is feasible: Gagnon was a common name there, and there were more than one Louis Gagnon of the right age range living there in the mid 1800s. Anny's parents were listed as Phrancis and Lavina, which could fit Francis and Olivina. I believe this to be the correct marriage record for this couple.Residence
-- On the 1895 Wisconsin State Census, she is called "Mrs. Lewis Gagnon." It states that seven others were living there: in total, four females and four males.Residence
1899-1900 City Directory indicates that she was living with Olvine Boucher (wid Joseph). Also listed at this address are Alvina C. Gagnon (clerk) and Samuel Gagnon (laborer).Residence
Enumerated with this family were:-- Anne Gagnon, a widow, age 42, born April 1858 in Canada
and children, all born in Wisconsin:
-- Samuel, age 19, born December 1880, a laborer in a saw mill
-- Olivine, age 17, born June 1882, a saleswoman in a dry goods store
-- William, age 16, born January 1884
-- Henry, age 14, born October 1885, a teamster
-- Adele, age 12, born January 1888
-- Louis, age 10, born March 1890
-- Ezilda, age 7, born May 1893
Anne Gagnon had had seven children, all of whom were still living. She had immigrated in 1874, and had been in the United States for 26 years. Her naturalization was pending.
