Obituary of Ferdinand Roberts:
Kates Bay Man Dies, Aged 99
Ferdinand Roberts Had Been Peninsula Resident for 80 Years
Garden, April 3—Ferdinand Roberts, the oldest resident of the Garden Peninsula, and one of the oldest of upper Michigan, died at his home at Kates Bay Thursday night. Had he lived until next November, he would have been 100 years of age.
Mr. Roberts had lived in Delta county for nearly 80 years. Until about 40 years ago, he was a lumber camp cook and a chef in hotels of this district. Then he took up a farm on Kates Bay where he had resided since.
Until a very short time before his death, he was physically active, his memory was clear, and he was a frequent visitor in the village of Garden.
His widow and three sons survive. The latter are Jacob Roberts of Garden, George Roberts of Cooks, and Frank Roberts of Alberta, Canada. Escanaba Daily Press, Saturday, April 4, 1925
