Joe Gladney Kirkpatrick was born 8 October 1898 and died 6 March 1976. On 21 January 1924 he married Isabel Crawford of Fort Lawn, Chester County, South Carolina. After Joe Gladney Kirkpatrick's death, his widow married in January 1977, William Green Anderson, widower of Joe's sister Ella Mae Kirkpatrick.

Born in Chester County, he was a son of the late John Henry and Hattie Gladney Kirkpatrick. He was an electrician with Duke Power Co. for 32 years and worked at Ninety-Nine Island Station in Blacksburg. He served on the Fort Lawn Town council, and was past officer at Fort Lawn Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Isabell Crawford Kirkpatrick; two sons, Joe G. Kirkpatrick, Jr. of Charlotte, N. C., and John R. Kirkpatrick of Rockingham, N. C.; a sister, Mrs. Ernest Crosby of Fort Lawn; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. services will be 4 p.m. Monday in Mahaffey Funeral Home with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
