Davis Kirkpatrick Sr.

Davis Kirkpatrick was born 8 March 1872 and died 28 July 1934, according to his stone in the Cedar Shoals Presbyterian Church Cemetery (another source says 1929). On 22 December 1895 he married Lula Hafner, daughter of Marcus and Mary (McDonald) Hafner, who was born 9 June 1873 and died 21 January 1943. Both are buried in the Cedar Shoals Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Richburg, Chester County, South Carolina.
There were seven (7) children born of the marriage.
On the 1910 U. S. Roseville Township, Chester Co, South Carolina, Davis Kirkpatrick appears with his wife Lula and children Frank, Davis, Jr., Ruth, Frazier, Lucile and Carl. Davis is a farmer. Davis and Lula have been married 14 years. Lula states she is the mother of 6 all of whom are currently living.

Chester, July 28---Davis Kirkpatrick Sr., 62, farmer of the Bascomville section, died at Pryor hospital here this morning, following an operation and complications. Funeral services will be conducted from Cedar Shoals Presbyterian church, Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock, with Rev. J. H. Montgomery, pastor of Richburg Methodist Episcopal church and the Rev. J. M. Forbis pastor of Great Falls Presbyterian church, officiating, after which the body will be laid to rest in the historic graveyard of the church. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a native of Leeds section. His parents were Sara Ann Sealy Kirkpatrick and George Washington Kirkpatrick. He was widely interested in all activities looking toward advancement of that section of the county. He was a member of the Richburg Masonic lodge and the Richburg Methodist Episcopal church. He always took a great interest in religious, fraternal and civic affairs.
Mr. Kirkpatrick is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lula Hafner Kirkpatrick, and the following children: Frank Hafner Kirkpatrick of Fort Lawn, Davis Kirkpatrick, Jr., Newton, N. J., Mrs. L. E. Outen, Charlotte, George Frazer Kirkpatrick, Rosland, N. J., Miss Lucille Kirkpatrick, Bascomville, Carl Kirkpatrick, Halethrop, Md., and Edward Kirkpatrick, Bascomville. He is also survived by a brother, John Henry Kirkpatrick, Fort Lawn, and a sister Mrs. J. D. Sanders, Chester and three grandchildren also survive.
