PETRIE -Margaret Irene Petrie, born Aug. 4, 1918 in Cozad, Nebraska, passed away Dec. 7, 2001 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Glendora. Eldest of seven children, Irene lived her earliest years in Colorado and Long Beach, CA. In 1942, she enlised in the Women's Army Corps, attained the rank of Sergeant and served overseas in England and France. She was married to Donald Petrie for 45 years until his death in 1992. Her passions include serving the interests of veterans in the Amerian Legion and Women's Overseas Service League in which she held numerous positions, her community and her church. She was an active member of Glenkirk Presbyterian Church for many years. Her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Phil Goss, her grandchildren, Laura Cina of San Dimas and Bryan Goss of Beaverton, Oregon, her brothers, John McCance and Robert McCance and numerous nieces and nephews survived her. She requested no services be held. Published in San Gabriel Valley Tribune on Dec. 14, 2001.
