John Christopher Kirkpatrick, 83, of 728 North St., retired mill agent for the Rock River Cotton Co., Janesville, Wis., died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday at Memorial hospital following a lingering illness. Born May 10, 1877, at Lancaster, Grant county, Wis., to Francis M. and Catherine Hannan Kirkpatrick, he was a mill agent for the Wisconsin firm 57 years until his retirement in July 1954. He was a member of the Broadway Methodist church and a life member of the Elks lodge. The deceased moved here in 1903 and was married to Lina McKee on Dec. 19, 1905, at the home of her parents, Mayor George and Clara Jameson McKee. Survivors are the wife, Lina; a son, F. McKee Kirkpatrick, Burbank, Calif.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Zimmer, Mobridge, S.D., and Mrs. Harry C. Strong, Dodgeville, Wis.; a brother, Frank M., Clyman, Wis.; and a number of nieces and nephews. A son John , Jr., and five brothers preceded him in death. Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the McCloskey-Hamilton-Kahle funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond Echols officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday. The Elks will hold ritualistic services at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
