Raymond Francis Carr

Raymond and his family were living in Heppner, Oregon at the time of the Federal Census of 1900. He and most of the family survived the devastating Heppner Flood of June 14, 1903, but an infant sister, 15 month old Lilias Carr, was lost. A memorial window in the east wall of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Heppner was dedicated to her. His family later moved to Mercer Island, WA.

Raymond served in the US Marine Corps during World War I. He was one of the original "Devil Dogs", participating in the battle of Belleau Wood were he was exposed to mustard gas. He bore the effects of his wounds the rest of his life.

In his early years he was an engineer, living both in Seattle and Oakland, CA.

Married Florence Bird(ie) Allin in Washington, moved to a farm in Lookingglass, Oregon. Father of two daughters: Marguerite M (born Washington @ 1922) and Jessie Ellen (born Washington @1925).

Brother to Hazel (born Nebraska 10/1888), Jay (James) Kirk (born Lake Charles, Louisiana 10/21/1891) Myrtle E (born Texas 5/1897) and Lilias (probably born Oregon, 2/26/1902). Also brother to Clarence W and Marion J(ames), both born in Washington @ 1908 and 1909

Location of burial in Oregon unknown at this time.
