Sarah Ellen "Ella" Williams

Posted at findagrave.com: Born Ella Bell in West Virginia. Was living in Gentry Precinct of Heppner, Oregon at the time of the Federal Census of 1900. Her name is listed as Ella. Her husband James' name was mis-transcribed by the census-taker as "John" K.. Her place of birth, and that of her parents', was entered as "Virginia" instead of West Virginia.
She and most of the family survived the devastating Heppner Flood of 1903, but an infant child, Lilias Carr, was lost. A memorial window in the east wall of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Heppner was dedicated to her.
She, and her husband James, later moved the family to Mercer Island, WA. In the 1910 census her name was recorded as Ella S. Carr.
Mother to Hazel, James Kirk (Jr), Raymond, Myrtle and Lilias. Sons Clarence and Marion were born later in the Seattle area.

Mrs. Carr was born in West Virginia and came to Seattle in 1898. She was a member of Lakeside Chapter No. 202, OES, Bellevue; Auxiliary No. 5760 VFW, Mercer Island, and Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Mercer Island.
She is survived by her husband, James Kirk Carr, four sons, J Kirk and Clarence W. Carr, both of Seattle, James M. Carr, Kent and Raymond F. Carr, Roseburg, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Burnell, Bellevue, and Mrs. Hazel Gilliam, Campbell, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Munger, Kellogg, Ida., and Mrs. Mamie Packard, Eugene, Ore.; 10 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.
Eastern Star funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Columbia Funeral Home. Burial will be in Washelli Cemetery.
