From the Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, Iowa, no date: Crash kills ex-mayor of Oelwein. Regis Harrington Sr. owner of the Portable Mill and former mayor died at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa from an auto accident 2 miles east of Dyersville. He was enroute to Chicago for the world series with his friend Donald Avenson when he lost control of his car. He was part owner of the Portable Mill since 1957. He was mayor from Aug. 1948 to Dec. 1955. He was active in politics as a Democrat. He was a trustee of the Oelwein Elks and active in the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife Ema, 3 sons Andrew, Claire and Regis Jr. all of Oelwein, and a daughter Joanne Masters of Prospect Hgts., Ill. Services will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.
