Louis Oliver Kirkpatrick

Louis Oliver Kirkpatrick was born 28 September 1864 in Monroe County, Mississippi. He married on 18 January 1891 in Monroe County to Barbara Mae ("Bobbie") Fuqua, daughter of Giles and Martha Evelyn (Hill) Fuqua, who was born 30 September 1870, also in Monroe County. They first made their home in Hatley, Monroe County, Mississippi, where they lived untill 1900. They then purchased land on the Gaines Trace Road, a road that was first a trail made by the Chickasaw Indians. Here they cleared land and built their home.
Uncle Bud, as Louis was called by family and friends, did extensive farming and grew one of the finest orchards in Monroe County. People came many miles to buy his fruit.
Barbara died 2 February 1907 in Monroe County, shortly after the birth of her youngest child. Louis died 17 October 1936 in Amory, Mississippi. Both are buried in the Hatley Cemetery in Monroe County, Mississippi.
There were nine (9) children born of the marriage.
