James Wallace Kirkpatrick

Jim Wallace, the second child of Louis and Barbara Kirkpatrick, was born 17 March 1892 in Hatley, Monroe Co., Mississippi. He married on 10 September 1915 to Mattie Parchman who was born 12 December 1894 in Monroe County, Mississippi.

Jim was an astute businessman. He purchased several pieces of property in the surrounding area and established the first Grade A dairy in Monroe County in 1929, with a herd of registered Jersey cows. He also held a job in Amory, a larger town three miles from Becker. Before he owned a car he would ride a bicycle to work. Jim was also the Sunday School Superintendant and song leader at the Greenbriar Methodist Church.

Jim Wallace died 17 April 1933, after an illness of only a few days. Mattie married second to Jim Wallace's cousin, James Crosby Dilworth. She died 18 January 1968 at the home in Becker which she and Jim had established in 1917. They are buried in the Greenbrier Methodist Cemetery.

There were three (3) children born of the first marriage.
