When the Civil war came along, William Y. Williams and Francis L. Williams went to war. William Y. Williams was killed in Virginia. He died on 20 June 1862.
On the 1900 U. S. Census of Bartonville, Walker Co., Alabama, Rebecca Williams appears with her daughters Florence and Georgian. They are listed as black. They are single. All three women are farming.
On the 1910 U. S. Census of Bartonville, Walker Co., Alabama, Rebecca is in the household of her son William W. Williams. Also in the household is William's children Oliver and Dovie L. William is a widower. A 3 year old niece of William's, Marilla J. Williams, is also listed.
